Retired Police Detective to Focus on Nexus Between Public Safety

and Job Creation in his West End of Anaheim

(Anaheim) – Today, Anaheim Budget Commissioner and retired police detective Steve Chavez Lodge announced his campaign for Anaheim City Council. The first district seat represents West Anaheim and its more than 56,000 residents.

“Anaheim is an amazing city that is known throughout the world and I’m excited to give back to a community that has given so much to me.” said Lodge.  “We need representation on the city council that understands how public safety and clean streets are two of the most vital factors in creating jobs and supporting small business.”

“Steve would be an incredible addition to the Anaheim City Council,” said former Dep. Chief of Police for Anaheim and current OC District Attorney Bureau Chief Craig Hunter. “His experience in the public and private sector coupled with his commitment to public safety and community service make him the only choice for the 1st district and West Anaheim.”

Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens, as well as Anaheim City Council Members Kris Murray and Mayor Pro-Tem Lucille Kring, have recently joined the growing list of Orange County leaders that have endorsed Steve’s campaign.

Steve is active in the community and has developed the reputation of ‘fiscal hawk’ as a Budget Commissioner for the City of Anaheim.  While serving on the Orange County Waste Management Commission, Lodge and his colleagues were able to keep 100 Million Dollars in funding from leaving Orange County.

“This is sure to be an exciting campaign. We have a lot of momentum and great support from people around the community,” Lodge said. “My commitment to public safety and economic development is something that voters in West Anaheim are excited about as many of them have felt ignored by the citywide elections for many years.”

Steve Chavez Lodge is a native Californian, and long time Orange County resident. In addition to serving in the US Army as a paratrooper, Steve spent 28 years with the Santa Ana Police Department; the last seven years as a Senior Gang Homicide Detective.  Steve is a father of four and grandfather of four and makes his home in West Anaheim.
